Email may be a great way to reach lots of people, in nearly no time at all, for what's essentially free, but sometimes you just really want to go old school. When the time comes to send out a proper, physical card, you could go to the trouble of purchasing supplies, stamps, and then mailing out the card yourself, or you could use an app like Cards. You draft up your own message while choosing from 21 designs in six categories, then have Apple prepare and mail the card on your behalf. The app itself is free; sending a card costs $3 for domestic US delivery, and $5 internationally.
Find My Friends lets you share your location data with your buddies, and then enables each of you to keep track of where the others have wandered off to. When planning group events, you can easily coordinate movements and keep in contact with each other. Privacy concerns are addressed through the ability to grant limited access to your location data, letting friends or family track you only for a limited period of time. Like Cards, it's a free download.
