iPhone 5 Back Fully Revealed in Case-Mate Leak? (Image)

You are in an iPhone Post

Update: We've come across one more picture of an iPhone 5 case, and this time the semi-transparent materials give us a full-on look at the the smartphone's back. Check her out above.

The folks at Apple must be getting at least a little amusement over watching us pounce on each new rumor about the next iPhone's design; massive re-engineering, mostly the same, thin-and-tapered, huge screen, powered by steam... it's hard to sort out the fact from the fiction. Even as we near the smartphone's reveal, we're still having to consider and reconsider all the options that have been put forward. Earlier today, we got a look at a screen protector that offered some insight into what the front of the iPhone 5 may look like, and now we turn our attention, quite literally, to the phone's back, with some new images of case designs surfacing.

Case-Mate released a series of renders showing off some different designs. One thing they have in common, though, is portraying the iPhone 5 as having the sloping edges and curved back we've heard rumored before; this is in stark contrast to rumors that any changes to the smartphone from the iPhone 4 would be largely internal.

The company seems convinced we're getting both an iPhone 5 and a 4S, so it's entirely possible that the iPhone-4-looking model we've heard mentioned so often is just the 4S. While we may still be in the dark, Case-Mate seems very sure about the iPhone 5's dimensions, and this late in the game we've got to start considering that at least one of the case design's we've seen is right on the money. Does Case-Mate have it correct? We should be finding out in the next few weeks.

In Business, Image Isn't Everything; It's The Only Thing!

We have all heard this lament, but how much do we practice it. With all the relaxed rules today, do we really present ourselves in the best light. It seems all the articles I see today are about how old fashioned today's workers find their supervisors or bosses to be in the way they dress, the policies they implement and the old fashioned ways in which they conduct their business.

I am of the belief, and will continue to believe, that the first impression I make is the lasting one. Whether it is by phone or in person, I want to present myself in the best possible light. But then again, I am from the old school, the one today's workers are complaining about.

Let's look at the companies that are still standing. After all the hoopla has passed, the companies that have used the fundamental principles of Business 101 are the ones still among us. The Intels, IBMs, Burger Kings, AT&Ts, Sears, Microsofts, Dells, Gateways, etc.

I am not advocating living in the dark ages. I believe for a company to survive it has to move with the times, but the basic structure and foundation on which we have built our business - image, courtesy, ethics, the customer being right, are the cornerstones to running a successful business, whether it is home-based or not.

Too many home-based business have taken the pajama mentality into all of their business practices. I have called on businesses that have cute messages on their machines, music that is obnoxious, children answering the telephone, screaming televisions, radios in the background. This does not inspire confidence in me to do business with this person.

That is not to say I have not had reservations about companies that have offices outside the home. In fact, it was a call placed to one that inspired this article. When I called and spoke to the owner of this business, she had no idea on how a particular process worked or what it's cost would be. Wow, it's her business and she doesn't know how it works or what it costs. Guess who I didn't do business with. I am not saying you have to be an expert, but at least know the basics and tell me you employ an expert in that area that will be better able to help me, don't hem and haw and tell me you don't have a clue. This does not give me a good impression of you or your company.

There are businesses in corporate offices that are more fun houses than companies...and they don't inspire any confidence in me either, so I am not picking on home-based businesses.

The purpose of this article is to remind all of us (home-based and non-home-based) that how we present ourselves is of paramount importance.

When you answer your telephone, answer it in a professional manner. When you go to an outside meeting, if you are home-based, dress for the meeting, not for home. If you have clients come to your home, be sure it is presentable, and that you are too. Just because you work out of your home, does not mean, shorts and a T-shirt are appropriate for meeting a client. Have your identity package (business cards, letterhead, brochure) done professionally, proofread and spell check any correspondence that leaves your office.

Your first impression, whether in person, by phone or correspondence is a lasting one. Make it a good one and you'll have clients for life if you treat them right - the old fashioned way.

The only place I've ever found I was wrong is with restaurants. Some of those little holes in the wall have turned out to have the best service and the best food, so I guess when it comes to businesses, you can't judge all books by their covers, just most of them.

Fun with Google Search by Image

Google has a new Search by Image function and, if you haven’t used it yet, you’ve got to give it a try. If you haven’t heard about it yet, I’ll let this soothing, disembodied female voice explain it for me:

Get it? Okay, now that you’ve been given a crash course, let’s have some fun with Wpromote’s executive head shots. Below, I’ve matched up the Wpromoter with the first result in Google’s search by image. Let’s start with the big dog, Michael Mothner, Wpromote’s CEO:

It appears that Mothner has more in common with former Turkish National Soccer Team goalkeeper, Rüştü Reçber, than just his tenacious will to win. According to Google Search by Image, they share dashing good looks as well!

No, you’re not seeing double. On the left is our Controller, Ali Quinn-Angel, and on the left is renowned Romanian professor of history, Dr. Gelu Neamţu. They actually are not related in any way but, according to Google Search by Image, they’re practically twinsies!

Our Director of Marketing, Jamie Lane, is right at home putting together decks for potential clients, organizing the sales team for conferences and getting the word out about Wpromote’s services. In Google’s opinion, she might also find herself at home on the high seas as Captain of the infamous Black Pearl. By the way, Google, if you’re wondering, telling a woman that she looks like a hand-drawn Chinese poster for one of the Pirates movies is not as big of a compliment as you might think.

Okay, fair’s fair. I ran myself through Google Search by Image and Google determined that an accurate description of my head shot was “dinosaur cartoons.” Now, although that’s awesome, it influences the way that Google runs the search (the same thing happens with Michael Stone’s head shot). Because of this, Google matched me to a Yahoo Answers avatar that popped up on a question about the 1990s show Dinosaurs, which, evidently was not a cartoon. Either way, Google thinks I’m visually similar to a feminine, elfen creature about a tenth my own size… and I’m not sure how I feel about that!

So, if you use Chrome, try downloading the Google Search by Image extension. It’s a lot of fun and, over time, it’s likely to get a lot better. As you can see from the results above, there is still some work to be done before the tool is perfected. Until then, if you find out that Google thinks that someone you care about looks like anything other than an A-list celebrity (of the same gender!), you might be better off keeping it to yourself!
