According to a DigiTimes report, the iPhone 5 will be delayed due to some defects in the touch panels manufactured by Wintek. According to previous reports, Apple is supposed to launch its next flagship on October 4 but initial shipment targets might not be met due to the panel issues. Many rumors come from "the supply chain" via DigiTimes and it's up to you to believe them or not. Answering to the above report, Wintek declared that there will be no delays for either of its products. "Sources" indicated that the defect is "delayed bubble" which is "difficult to avoid during panel production, particularly when the defect is not detected during the process of laminating touch panels, and only later found during assembly".
Regardless of the alleged issues, we're not expecting the iPhone 5 to be available right away, on October 4 (if the event will even take place on that day). The phone will likely ship a tad later (a week or too after the announcement) so we'll just have to wait and see what Tim Cook tells us on stage.
