Apple to Announce iPhone 5 on October 4: Report

The moment we've been all waiting for is looking to be going down on October 4. According to "sources familiar to the matter", Apple is going to hold a media event on October 4, where we expect the company to unveil its next iPhone(s).

While, of course, Apple can change the date anytime, AllThingsD is rather certain that October 4 is the day to circle in your calendar using a red pencil. The announced phone will allegedly be available weeks after the event, which would make it an October-announced-October-available iPhone. The report goes on saying Apple's new CEO, Tim Cook, will be most probably the one showing the phone(s) off.

Verizon And LG Announce The Enlighten, Available 09/22-29

After the Verizon-bound LG Enlighten recently met its delay, the U.S. carrier and the South Korean phone manufacturer have just announced the phone. It will be available online at beginning September 22 and in stores on September 29.

The slide-out QWERTY-enabled Android is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a shy 800 MHz processor. The rest of the specs are mid-range too, with a 3.2-inch HVGA display, and a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera. There's also WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and a slide-out four-row QWERTY keyboard for fast typing. The price will be $79.99 after a $50 mail in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement and if you'd like an entry-level Android phone that comes cheap, look for it online and in stores this month.

LG And Sprint Announce The LG Marquee, Arriving October 2

After seeing the official press renders of the LG Marquee -- the Optimus Black, really -- we knew that an official Sprint announcement was on its way. The carrier has made the phone official with an availability date of October 2.

The LG Marquee runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and packs a 1GHz single-core processor. It has a super-bright four-inch WVGA IPS NOVA display, 512MB RAM, 2GB ROM, five-megapixel autofocus camera and with flash and two-megapixel front-facing webcam, powered by a 1500 mAh battery. It will be available for a pre-sale between September 20-27 online for $99.99 and will land on October 2 for the same price with eligible upgrade or a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate via reward card.
