If you're a fan of Sony Ericsson's smartphones, whether that's because of excellent cameras, or the inclusion of video game controls, we've got some good news for you: in a recent phone call with investors, the company revealed its intention to abandon feature phones altogether, and commit to all its releases being smartphones over the course of next year. Admittedly, SE's well on its way to being smartphone-only when it comes to handsets, but it still manages to churn out a few feature phones, like the recent Sony Ericsson txt, a messaging-centered dumbphone. Understandably, shifting away from such models won't represent a major strategy change for the company, but it will mean that there are just that many additional researches dedicated to creating future smartphones.
With the clock ticking on Symbian, it stands to reason that SE will become even more centered on producing Android models. The way things are looking, by this time next year, there's a chance that nearly all SE phones could be Androids.
Besides a new focus on smartphones, what else does the future hold for Sony Ericsson? The company didn't give away too many details, but one tidbit is that an autosteroscopic 3D phone is in the works; no word on an ETA.

If you just decided you need to install Google Voice on your iPhone you will probably be surprised to see that the application is no longer available in the Apple iTunes App Store. 
The iPhone 4S has been available on pre-order since October 7 and in stores since last Friday, October 14. These models are available for purchase on contract but Apple promised unlocked iPhone 4S devices starting November. 
Apple's Siri voice control system shipping as an exclusive on the iPhone 4S, but recently ported to the iPhone 4, is having some difficulties according to several user reports with the Assistant not being able to connect to the internet. 
If you are using an Apple AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme WiFi router you will no longer have to have a computer handy in order to tweak its settings if Apple makes the configuration app for iPhone available soon. 
The worst-kept secret in smartphones today continues to show up in news everywhere, still yet-to-be-officially-announced. Samsung's Nexus Prime / Galaxy Nexus has just made a new appearance, displayed in Best Buy's Cellebrite system. 
AT&T is trying to address the needs of all those who are concerned (or trying to cope) with having all their business or work related stuff on the same phone with their personal content, such as games, videos, pictures and music. 
While Apple's new "Siri" speech interface on the iPhone 4S may have a few more features and a little more intelligence than Windows Phone's current speech interface, Microsoft isn't standing still has been working on similar features for a while now. Microsoft also shows how this will be highly integrated with Xbox and Kinect, which will be pretty cool. After all we know already that Windows Phone's speech UI shares the same system as the Xbox Kinect speech interface and that they learn from eachother. 
You might remember the recently launched (in Korea) LG Optimus LTE, if not for the fast network speeds but because of that 4.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 resolution. LG today introduced a new standard in mobile display unveiling the "True HD IPS" screen. 
Microsoft has plans for making "Window Phone the best camera you will ever own" and for that, the company is looking to hire "great people to bring our big vision to reality".

Motorola revealed back in May that it would be providing Gingerbread updates for a large portion of its Droid family of smartphones, including the Droid Pro. Just a week or so later, we heard that the Droid Pro's Gingerbread update was already heading out to users. That turned out to be a false start, and marked the beginning of a summer plagued by such troubled software releases for Motorola phones. Now that fall's upon us, Motorola and Verizon are trying their hands at this again, and it looks like Gingerbread for the Droid Pro is finally ready to arrive.

It's the fastest device, in terms of CPU speed, currently on the market, if you want a Windows Phone 7 device. Sitting on top of the latest Mango build of WP7, the Titan is indeed snappy, especially when browsing the web. Windows Phone 7 is normally speedy, so adding another 500MHz worth of processing power enhances daily use in certain areas (like gaming, web, and video), but doesn't make for a dramatic improvement when compared to any other Windows Phone 7 device.
