While Apple's new "Siri" speech interface on the iPhone 4S may have a few more features and a little more intelligence than Windows Phone's current speech interface, Microsoft isn't standing still has been working on similar features for a while now. They put together this video that was released months ago of how a future version of Windows Phone will work with a more natural, personalized, and adaptive speech interface. Microsoft also shows how this will be highly integrated with Xbox and Kinect, which will be pretty cool. After all we know already that Windows Phone's speech UI shares the same system as the Xbox Kinect speech interface and that they learn from eachother. Source: Creamhackered

Microsoft's goal for 2012 is to make Windows Phone a solid third platform offering a viable alternative to iOS and Android. Things are already starting to look good as Windows Phone Division head Andrew Lees believes an important goal has been met: Microsoft became credible again in the phone market. 
Hawaii Five-O is a few episodes into their second season, and along with some new characters, we also see some new Windows Phones. In last week's episode called "Kame'e", we see that SEAL Lt. Commander Joe White (Terry O?Quinn) happens to us an HTC HD7 as his mobile phone and Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park) has upgraded to a new device. 
One-and-a-half months after HTC introduced the Radar Windows Phone -- together with the Titan -- at this year's IFA in Berlin, the Taiwanese manufacturer is now officially launching the phone in India. 
It's been quite a journey for the long anticipated WhatsApp Windows Phone client, from the early day rumors, leaks and hints (a tweet about mangos, a job posting and more recently, a teaser image) to a private beta in the Marketplace more recently. 
Everyone's anxiously waiting for the huge Windows Phone 7 upgrade to arrive, both in terms of the upgrade to existing phones as well as new phones with new hardware features. Eric Hautala just posted to the Windows Phone blog that it will be coming in the next week or so. That's kind of vague because it sounds like it will be the same kind of thing where certain carriers and certain devices will get the upgrade at certain times. It won't be an all at once thing. Eric also recommends against installing unofficial versions of the update since each device and carrier specific update will be including special customizations that tune your device for optimal usage. 
Today Flixster saw an update that brings some very cool Windows Phone 7.5 Mango features to the app. If you're familiar with Flixster already, you'll know that it offers access to showtimes, movie trailers and Rotten Tomatoes reviews. With the recent upgrade to version 1.6, it now supports fast app switching in Mango and Bing search integration. That means if you're searching for a movie using Bing, you can swipe over to the "apps" tab and get a deep-link into Flixster for whatever movie you were looking at so you can read Rotten Tomatoes reviews or whatnot. It also now supports pinning specific movies or theaters to your start screen. After you pin a movie to the start screen you'll have quick access to that movie in Flixster, but you'll also have a live tile of the movie's poster art that flips around to show you the Rotten Tomato review score. If you pin a theater, it will also have a live tile, but it only flips around to show the name of the theater. Still, having quick access to a specific theater and its showtimes is a great option to have on your start screen. 
Long Zheng has noticed some interesting references to telephony features in Windows 8, both via the Microsoft Build session on live tiles and a Windows 8 App demo on Winrumors. You'll notice a live tile that shows missed calls, another that shows text messages, and in the contact's card you'll see options to text or call the person you're looking at. There's also evidence that the prototype Samsung Slate PC that was given to developers at the Build conference includes a 3G chip with voice calling capabilities as opposed to just data. The radio supports quad-band 2G and peta-band 3G. 
When some one says their phone has a dual-core processor, that sounds very impressive. It means one side of the processor can be doing one thing while the other side is doing another. It's very advantageous to multitasking scenarios, provided the operating system is designed to handle the two processors well enough to take full advantage of them. 
We are still expecting to hear something official from Microsoft to confirm those September 15 Mango announcement and launch rumors and, while we wait, it appears that the platform refresh went live in Taiwan. 
Mango is nearing upon us (we're still yet to see whether rumors about today's announcement turn out to be true or not) and applications are being constantly updated to support the Redmond platform refresh. 
There wasn't very much information to point towards a Windows Phone client for WhatsApp but there were two bits that kept our hopes up: a tweet about mangos and a job posting. Here's the third one and hopefully there will be an announcement soon! 
Yes, Windows Phone Mango is really close and, to back up recent rumors that talk about an official launch any day now, Microsoft has published a video about Mango and how it is easier to "build easily, build better, build now with Windows Phone". 
The first Nokia Windows Phone -- we just assume it will be the SeaRay but we've heard names like Nokia 703 and 800 too -- is going to ship in the middle of month October, according to recent reports. We initially heard that Nokia is planning a Europe-only launch limited to six countries this year and one month from now allegedly seems to be the date. 
Stephen Chapman of ZDnet has found a few clues that point towards the next next version of Windows Phone codenamed Apollo as possibly using the same core technologies as the full Windows 8 operating system. There are a couple of references in a few different ex-employee online resumes and HTC employee references that seem to indicate that it might be true.
