Motorola Droid Bionic TV Ad Tips Release Date?

You are in an Android Post

Now that the Motorola Droid Bionic has been re-jiggered, re-outfitted, and prepped for a release on Verizon's LTE network, we've just been left wondering when the Android smartphone would finally be available for sale. There have been plenty of rumors, and lots of leaked roadmaps, but nothing absolutely concrete. September 8 has been looking like the most likely ETA, popping up in numerous places, but we've also been misled by reports echoing that support for the eighth that have turned out to be somewhat less than authorized. Maddeningly, Verizon continues to remain tight-lipped about the Bionic's release, but that doesn't stop more and more evidence from piling up. The latest we've seen makes a strong case for the eighth, with a television spot for the phone referencing the date.

Roadmaps can always be changed, but putting the date out in public like this makes it far more likely that Verizon and Motorola are committed to it. The commercial in question is mostly the same as the one we looked at earlier, but now includes the text "09.08.11" in its final moments. While we suppose the ad never actually refers to it as the Bionic's release date (what else could it be? The start of pre-orders?), the simplest explanation seems most reasonable. Chances are, we'll be seeing the Bionic hit stores this time next week.
